James sat in his living room, holding another letter he had written to his son, Andrew. It had been years since they last spoke—years marked by silence and missed opportunities to mend their relationship. With a sigh, James sealed the envelope and placed it on the table, where many similar letters had rested before being sent.
Over a decade had passed since their falling out, but James never stopped hoping for reconciliation. That day, as he sorted through his mail, he noticed an envelope that caught his attention. His hands trembled as he opened it, revealing a photo. In it, Andrew smiled alongside his wife and two young children. For a fleeting moment, hope sparked in James’s heart. Could this be a sign of mending the rift?
Flipping the photo over, he read a message that extinguished his hope: “James, stop sending letters. Soon, there won’t be anyone at this address to receive them.” The cryptic note left James with unanswered questions. Were they moving? Was this truly the end of any connection between them?
Determined to find clarity, James made a decision. The next morning, he packed a bag and began the eight-hour drive to Andrew’s home. Along the way, memories of their fractured bond played in his mind. He thought of the argument that had driven them apart, one that had left scars on both sides.
Years earlier, Andrew had discovered something that shattered his trust in his father. Despite James’s efforts to explain and apologize, the damage had been done. Andrew’s parting words still echoed in James’s mind: “You’ll never see me again.”
When James arrived at Andrew’s home, a woman answered the door. “You’re Andrew’s wife, right?” James asked hesitantly. “I’m his father, James. May I see him?”
Her expression softened. “I’m Ashley,” she said. “Please come in, but Andrew… he’s not here.”
James’s heart sank. “Where is he?”
