Human communication involves much more than the words we say.
A smile, a glance, a change in posture, or a brief touch during a conversation can sometimes provide additional clues about how a person is feeling. These nonverbal signals are one reason body language remains such an interesting subject in psychology and everyday social interaction.
However, body language should not be treated as a precise code. The same gesture can have very different meanings depending on the people involved, the situation, cultural expectations, and the relationship between them.
