The room went completely silent.
For the first time in years, Edric Kaine didn’t look confident.
He looked uncertain.
Dr. Marcus Cooper stood just outside the examination room with the door locked behind him. A security officer was beside him, speaking quietly into a radio.
Somewhere in the hallway, a phone rang.
Then another.
