When she decided to visit a rural community in Africa, she realized she had no way of knowing exactly what the experience would be like.
Before the trip, she had seen photographs, read travel stories, and watched videos showing traditional homes, markets, families, and everyday activities.
Those images gave her a glimpse of life in the region.
But a glimpse isn’t the same as being there.
So when she finally arrived, she made a conscious decision to put her assumptions aside and simply observe, listen, and learn.
