I Went to Pick Up My Wife and Twins

“Leaving. Make sure that they stay safe and healthy. It would be best for you to look into why your mother did the things she did to me.”

A wave of anxiety crashed over me. Suzie had left. The joy of the day shattered into confusion and fear. Desperately, I ran to the nurses’ station, demanding to know where she had gone. The nurses informed me that she had checked out earlier that morning, leaving no further explanation. They were as shocked as I was, unable to provide any answers.

Suzie’s departure was unexpected and baffling. We had been so close, so aligned in our excitement to welcome Emily and Grace. Why would she leave like this? Her note hinted at something deeper, something unresolved—a painful truth tied to my family’s past.

As I held my daughters close, my mind raced with questions. What had driven Suzie to leave? What secrets from my family’s history had haunted her so much that she felt the need to walk away? And most importantly, how could I ensure that Emily and Grace remained safe and loved despite the storm brewing around us?

This was not the joyous homecoming I had envisioned. Instead, it marked the beginning of a journey into the unknown—a quest to uncover the truth, to protect my family, and to bring Suzie back home.
