Ten months into his presidency, Donald Trump is facing one of the most challenging moments of his political career. Newly released polls show his approval rating dropping to 34%, with 61% of Americans disapproving of his performance — numbers that have reportedly caused turmoil inside the White House.
As soon as the results went public, Trump took to social media with a familiar tone of defiance. “Fake numbers from fake pollsters!” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “The REAL numbers are incredible — and the people know it!” Within minutes, he doubled down: “FAKE POLLS! Just more made-up numbers from people who hate America. We’re WINNING — big time.”The pushback is typical of Trump’s approach to criticism — deny, deflect, and dominate. But these latest figures are some of the worst any modern U.S. president has faced this early in office.
A Presidency Under Pressure
According to Gallup and other major pollsters, Trump’s approval rating now sits lower than nearly every modern president at this stage — including George W. Bush after the Iraq War and Barack Obama during the 2010 economic slump. Among independent voters, his support has plummeted below 30%, raising red flags for future elections.
