From the very beginning, clashes were inevitable. A knock on my door the day after we arrived set the tone.
“Hello, neighbor! I’m Seth,” he said cheerfully, holding a folder. “Welcome!”
I smiled politely, not knowing what was coming.
“I need to discuss something,” he continued. “The previous owners signed a contract letting me build a fence along the property line. Construction starts next week.”
I blinked. “Excuse me? My permission isn’t required?”
