“I’m heartbroken to share that my cousin Sean Swayze passed away today,” she wrote, noting that the photo was taken recently to promote a Dirty Dancing crawfish-themed event. “He was always fun and full of life.”
While Sean never reached the global fame of his older brother, he built a career of his own as a character actor and film crew member. His work included appearances in projects like Letters from a Killer, and he remained closely connected to the entertainment world throughout his life.
A family shaped by grief
Sean’s death comes more than 16 years after Patrick Swayze died in September 2009 at age 57 following a battle with pancreatic cancer. Patrick, remembered for iconic roles in Dirty Dancing, Ghost, and Road House, left behind an enduring legacy and a devoted fan base.
The Swayze family has endured multiple losses over the decades. Sean and Patrick are survived by their brother, actor Don Swayze, and their sister, actress Bambi Swayze. Their parents, Jesse Wayne Swayze and Patsy Yvonne Helen Swayze, both passed away in earlier years, and another sibling, Vicky Swayze, died in 1994.

Though he lived largely outside the spotlight, Sean Swayze remained part of a family whose name is deeply woven into Hollywood history. His passing is a somber reminder of that legacy—one filled with creativity, resilience, and heartbreak.
