Good’s family painted a starkly different picture than the federal portrayal. Her mother, Donna Ganger, remembered her as “extremely compassionate… loving, forgiving, and affectionate.” Friends and former teachers described her as gentle, creative, and caring — far from the dangerous criminal some officials suggested. Good was a U.S. citizen born in Colorado, with no criminal history beyond a traffic ticket.
Neighbors placed flowers and signs near the crash site, including one reading, “NO MEDIA INQUIRIES — JUSTICE FOR RENEE.” Video shows a woman near the wreck, wailing, “That’s my wife, I don’t know what to do!”
Despite public outcry, Vice President JD Vance stated that the ICE agent involved would not face charges, citing “absolute immunity” for federal law enforcement officials performing their duties. He called investigations by local authorities “preposterous” and defended the agent as simply “doing his job.”
The case has ignited debate about law enforcement accountability, use-of-force standards, and the federal protections that shield agents from prosecution. As communities mourn Renee Nicole Good, many are demanding answers and justice.
