One woman across the aisle gave him a little wave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mason waved back, then immediately hid again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tyler’s voice came over the speakers once more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLadies and gentlemen, I won’t keep you from your flight. But there’s one more thing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The cabin became quiet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMy son made me something.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I looked down at Mason.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
His drawing was still tucked inside his backpack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The one that said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
BEST PILOT EVER.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mason’s face turned bright red.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That was when Mason finally started laughing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The tension vanished.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The passengers applauded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
