An Emirates flight carrying 300 people crash-landed at Dubai International Airport on Wednesday after arriving from southern India, triggering a major emergency response on one of the world\u2019s busiest international travel hubs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Everyone on board Flight EK521 survived, according to the airline, but one firefighter died while responding to the incident. Images from the runway showed the aircraft in flames, with thick smoke visible across the airport area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The flight had departed from Thiruvananthapuram in southern India and was approaching Dubai at about 12:45 p.m. local time when the emergency unfolded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Passenger accounts indicated that the aircraft experienced a landing gear malfunction before the landing. One passenger, Iype Vallikadan, told the Associated Press that the pilot announced the issue before the emergency landing was carried out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
The aircraft was carrying 282 passengers and 18 crew members. They were evacuated within minutes after the plane came to rest, as emergency crews moved in to control the fire and secure the runway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Emirates had not released further details about the cause of the reported landing gear failure at the time of the initial reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The flight included passengers from 20 countries, highlighting Dubai\u2019s role as a major connection point for international travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Among those on board were 226 passengers from India, 24 from Britain, 11 from the United Arab Emirates, six from the United States, and six from Saudi Arabia. Other passengers were from Turkey, Ireland, Australia, Brazil, Germany, Malaysia, Thailand, Croatia, Egypt, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Lebanon, the Philippines, South Africa, Switzerland, and Tunisia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Saif Mohamed Al Suwaidi, director general of Dubai\u2019s General Civil Aviation Authority, said, \u201cOur primary concern at this moment is the safety and well-being of all passengers and cabin crew.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Boeing and the National Transportation Safety Board have assembled technical teams to assist, according to the initial information released after the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Investigators are expected to examine the aircraft, flight data, crew reports, maintenance records, and runway conditions as they work to determine what led to the emergency landing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
