Hollywood is filled with familiar faces, but only some performers manage to make audiences feel as though they truly know the characters they portray. Francisco San Martin was one of those actors. His death at just 39 brought an abrupt end to a career that had already made a lasting impression on daytime television.

San Martin was found dead at his Los Angeles home on January 16, 2024. His death was later reported as a suicide, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. He was 39 years old.

For fans of daytime television, San Martin was best remembered for his work on Days of Our Lives and The Bold and the Beautiful. His performances allowed him to step into complicated storylines and create characters who felt connected to the emotional world of the shows.

On Days of Our Lives, he portrayed Dario Hernandez, becoming part of the Hernandez family storyline during his time on the series. He later appeared on The Bold and the Beautiful, continuing to build a career in television while also pursuing opportunities beyond daytime drama.

San Martin’s path to acting was not simply about becoming famous. Born in Mallorca, Spain, he eventually made his way to the United States and worked steadily toward establishing himself in the entertainment industry. His career included television appearances, theater work, and other creative projects.

Like many working actors, his professional journey was built one opportunity at a time.

That is part of what makes his passing so difficult for colleagues and viewers who remember his performances. An actor can appear on screen for only a few minutes, yet those moments can become part of someone’s daily routine for years. Daytime television has a particularly powerful connection with its audience because viewers often watch the same performers and characters over long periods.

San Martin understood that rhythm.

His performances were remembered not simply because of the storylines, but because he brought an emotional sincerity to his roles. For fans, that sincerity helped make fictional characters feel real.

Following his death, fellow actors and members of the entertainment community shared tributes, remembering San Martin as both a talented performer and a person who made an impression away from the cameras. His work now remains through television episodes, recorded performances, and the memories of those who watched him.

His story is also a reminder that a public career can reveal only one part of a person’s life. Behind every familiar face is an individual with experiences and struggles that audiences may never fully see.

Francisco San Martin’s career ended far earlier than anyone expected, but the performances he left behind continue to give viewers a reason to remember him.

Did you remember Francisco San Martin from Days of Our Lives or The Bold and the Beautiful?
