A five-year-old boy is being celebrated as a true hero after waking up to flames next to his bed and saving his family of nine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI picked Lily up, got to the window with Lily, got the dog and got out,\u201d Noah Woods, 5, told WSBTV. But what sounds simple took courage far beyond his years.
Early Sunday morning, an electrical fire broke out in the bedroom Noah shared with his two-year-old sister, Lily. Realizing the danger, he grabbed his sister, the family dog, and escaped through the only available exit\u2014a window. But Noah didn\u2019t stop there. Once he was safe, he ran back inside to wake his uncle, helping ensure the rest of the family could escape.Family games<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Bartow County Fire Department posted, \u201cOur hero! 5-year-old Noah Woods recently woke up to find his bedroom on fire. He got himself and his 2-year-old sister out and reentered the house to alert the rest of the family.\u201d
Thanks to Noah\u2019s quick thinking, all nine family members escaped safely. Noah and four others were treated for minor burns and smoke inhalation, but everyone survived.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIf it wasn\u2019t for Noah, we were all asleep, so we wouldn\u2019t have known what was going on,\u201d said David Woods, Noah\u2019s grandfather. \u201cWe could\u2019ve all lost our lives.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bartow County Fire Department plans to recognize Noah as an Honorary Bartow County Firefighter and present him with a Lifesaving Award\u2014a well-deserved honor for such bravery at only five years old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
