These states must follow the law and protect hard-earned taxpayer money.\u201dACF Assistant Secretary Alex Adams also wrote to the states, noting that recent federal prosecutions and additional allegations suggested that some federal resources may have been fraudulently diverted from the American families they were meant to help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Democratic Senator Kirsten Gillibrand slammed the move as political retaliation, saying it will directly hurt children and low-income families.\u201cTrump is threatening to freeze child care funding in New York and targeting our children for political retribution. It\u2019s immoral and indefensible,\u201d she wrote on X. She added, \u201cThis has nothing to do with fraud and everything to do with political punishment for the neediest Americans. I demand that President Trump unfreeze this funding immediately.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
