I thought the hardest part of the day was over when my daughter finally held her newborn in her arms. I had watched her go through an exhausting experience, and seeing her cradle that tiny baby filled my heart with a mixture of relief, love, and gratitude. But just when we thought we could breathe and enjoy the moment, something happened that changed the atmosphere in the hospital room completely.

I will never forget standing beside her bed, trying to take in the sight before me.
