Then the doctors returned.
Their arrival immediately caught my attention. Something about the moment felt different, and the peaceful atmosphere we had been enjoying suddenly gave way to uncertainty. I could feel my heart beating faster as I waited to hear what they needed to tell us.
Only hours earlier, our attention had been focused entirely on the joy of welcoming a new family member. Now, we were facing information we had not anticipated.
