At first glance, this snowy scene can be surprisingly difficult to understand. The unusual shapes may lead viewers to imagine two people embracing or even a prehistoric creature. But those interpretations can distract from what is actually hidden in the image.
Look carefully at the left side of the scene and another possibility begins to emerge: the face of a large dog appears among the snow.
Look Beyond the Obvious Shapes
The illusion works because the animal blends into its surroundings. Its dark snout, eye, and floppy ears can be difficult to distinguish from the surrounding snow and landscape.
