When Sarah Palin entered the national spotlight in 2008, almost everything about her became a subject of public discussion.
Her political views attracted intense attention, but so did her appearance, clothing, hairstyle, and overall presentation. As the Republican vice-presidential nominee alongside John McCain, Palin suddenly found herself under a level of media scrutiny that went far beyond her political career.
After resigning as Alaska’s governor in 2009, however, her professional life changed considerably.
She moved into a different kind of public role involving television, books, speaking appearances, political commentary, and occasional returns to electoral politics. With those changes came a wardrobe that was not always tied to the conventions of elected office.
