At first glance, it looked like something straight out of a horror movie.
A long, dark, twisted mass was hanging from the overflow drain in my bathtub, drooping just enough to catch my attention the moment I walked into the bathroom. My immediate reaction was pure panic. My mind raced through every possibility imaginable—a snake, a dead animal, or some mysterious creature that had somehow found its way into my home.
The shape looked disturbingly organic, and the dim lighting only made it seem more unsettling. I froze in the doorway, debating whether to investigate or leave the room entirely.
Curiosity eventually won.
Keeping my distance, I leaned in for a closer look, but the object still appeared unrecognizable. I considered grabbing a broom or calling for help, convinced I was dealing with something alive—or at least something that shouldn’t be there.
Like many people would, I turned to the internet in search of answers. I found countless photos and theories ranging from harmless plumbing issues to bizarre stories involving pests and unusual household discoveries. The more I searched, the more confused I became.
