An Emirates flight carrying 300 people crash-landed at Dubai International Airport on Wednesday after arriving from southern India, triggering a major emergency response on one of the world’s busiest international travel hubs.
Everyone on board Flight EK521 survived, according to the airline, but one firefighter died while responding to the incident. Images from the runway showed the aircraft in flames, with thick smoke visible across the airport area.

The flight had departed from Thiruvananthapuram in southern India and was approaching Dubai at about 12:45 p.m. local time when the emergency unfolded.
Passenger accounts indicated that the aircraft experienced a landing gear malfunction before the landing. One passenger, Iype Vallikadan, told the Associated Press that the pilot announced the issue before the emergency landing was carried out.
