A bag of lettuce may look like one of the most ordinary items in your refrigerator, but a recent food-safety alert is giving shoppers a reason to take a closer look.
Taylor Farms de Mexico has voluntarily recalled iceberg lettuce sourced from central Mexico because of a potential connection to a multistate Cyclospora outbreak. The recall includes certain Marketside products sold at select Walmart stores, as well as other lettuce products distributed through food-service channels. The FDA says the investigation is ongoing, and consumers should not eat products included in the recall.
For shoppers, one of the most important steps is checking the label.
The recalled Marketside products include Iceberg Salad in 12-ounce and 24-ounce packages with “Best if Used By” dates ranging from July 18 through August 3, 2026. The recall also covers Shredded Lettuce in 8-ounce and 16-ounce packages with dates from July 18 through August 3, 2026. These products were sold at select Walmart locations in several states.
The recall extends beyond retail products. Taylor Farms also identified a range of food-service lettuce products distributed to restaurants and other customers. The FDA has linked the ongoing investigation to iceberg lettuce supplied by Taylor Farms de Mexico, including lettuce associated with Taco Bell locations where people reported becoming ill. Taco Bell has said it stopped using lettuce from the supplier as of July 17.
