I gripped the edge of the bench.
For several seconds, I couldn’t move.
I couldn’t even breathe properly.
Zoe stood behind me, clutching the sleeve of my shirt.
“Mommy?”
I stared into the locker.
There was no person inside.
No body.
No sign that anyone had been trapped there.
But there was something else.
