Search for Missing Tucson Woman Nancy Guthrie Intensifies as Investigators Pursue New Leads
The disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie has entered a critical new phase as investigators continue working to determine what happened during the hours after she was last seen at her Tucson home.
What began as a missing-person case has evolved into a complex investigation involving forensic evidence, digital records, family interviews, and an expanding search effort. As authorities piece together a detailed timeline, public attention remains focused on finding answers for Guthrie’s family and community.
Son-in-Law Participates in Voluntary Interview
One of the latest developments involves Tommaso Cioni, Guthrie’s son-in-law, who recently participated in an extended interview with law enforcement officials.
Following widespread speculation online, authorities clarified that Cioni was not arrested and has not been charged with any crime. Investigators emphasized that interviews with family members and individuals who had recent contact with a missing person are standard procedures in major investigations.
Officials stated that the purpose of the interview was to verify information, clarify timelines, and assist investigators as they continue examining the circumstances surrounding Guthrie’s disappearance.
The Last Confirmed Timeline
According to investigators, Nancy Guthrie was last seen on the evening of January 31, 2026, after sharing dinner with her daughter, Annie Guthrie, and Cioni.
Authorities say Cioni later drove her home to her residence in Tucson’s Catalina Foothills area and reported arriving at approximately 9:45 p.m. He told investigators he remained outside until he saw her enter the house.
By the following morning, concern quickly escalated when Guthrie failed to attend church services and could not be reached by family members.
What initially appeared to be a routine welfare concern soon took a far more serious turn.
