Every morning, Barbara hauled oversized trash bags to the curb with the same determined routine. It had become part of the neighborhood’s rhythm, and after months of watching it, my curiosity finally got the better of me.
When I loosened the knot on one of the bags, I expected to find broken boxes, old clothes, or yard waste.
Instead, the bag was filled with neatly folded blankets, towels, unopened toiletries, canned food, children’s books, and carefully labeled containers.
