The voice on the intercom paused for a moment.
The entire supermarket seemed to become quieter.
People stopped pushing carts. A few shoppers turned their heads toward register four. The woman in the designer coat slowly looked around, confused, as if she was trying to figure out why everyone was suddenly paying attention.
Then the voice continued.
