A massive fire erupted in Millharbor, sending residents rushing from their homes and turning a normally busy commercial district into a scene of smoke, flames, and emergency activity.
The blaze reportedly began around 3:42 p.m. inside the historic Mariner’s Block, an area known for older commercial buildings, narrow streets, and densely packed businesses.
What initially appeared to be a small amount of smoke quickly developed into a major fire.
Within minutes, flames were reportedly visible through upper-floor windows of the old McAllister Textiles Building. Pedestrians fled the surrounding streets as vendors abandoned their carts and drivers struggled to move through the area.
A thick column of smoke rose above the district, visible from a considerable distance.
