For years, he had carried himself with the confidence that often came with professional success. He had a demanding career, a comfortable lifestyle, and a personality that could easily dominate a room. Over time, however, that confidence had developed into something less admirable: a habit of judging people based on their jobs, income, or social position.
That attitude was challenged one afternoon after an uncomfortable encounter with Evelyn, a young waitress who was working during a busy shift.
