My ex-husband invited me to his wedding so I could watch him marry the woman he left me for.
The note inside the invitation read:
Hope we can finally move on like adults, Leah.
Ethan loved using polite words to disguise cruel intentions.
After fifteen years of marriage, he told everyone I was bitter, cold, and responsible for our divorce. Two months later, Sienna moved into the house I had helped pay for.
I knew the wedding invitation was not an act of peace.
It was a public test.
Still, I decided to attend.
The night before the ceremony, I sat alone at the hotel bar, staring at the invitation. A man named Vincent noticed and asked why I looked so uncomfortable.
When I explained, he surprised me.
“I’m attending the wedding too,” he said. “Maybe you shouldn’t go alone.”
The next evening, I entered the ballroom holding Vincent’s arm.
Ethan saw us immediately.
His face lost all color.
Then the bride approached.
“Vince?” Sienna said.
I looked at him.
“My sister,” he admitted.
